"At least six people were known dead after the ferry Sewol swiftly listed and then capsized off the southwest coast of South Korea., CNN affiliate YTN reported, citing South Korean emergency response officials. The semiofficial Yonhap news agency was still reporting four deaths early Thursday, mirroring what South Korean officials had told CNN on Wednesday.
At least 164 people have been rescued, according to media reports.
Nearly 300 others are missing, authorities said, but the exact number of passengers aboard the ferry was unclear amid the confusion of the rescue effort." CNN
